MOTIVATION: WHAT EXACTLY DRIVES YOU IN THIS LIFE?
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Am going to start by asking you a few questions about your life; “Where are you headed in life”, would you have an answer?  What’s your motivation? Have you thought about your future and what you’d like to have or achieve? Do you make 2, 5 or 10 year plans?

Now if you’ve answered no to all of the above, then do you feel lost or uncertain about where your life is going? What are you unsure of?

There are different schools of thought when it comes to one’s life and the future it might hold.

Some would agree that you must plan ahead in order to succeed, whilst others would disagree and instead, feel that it’s okay to live in the moment and experience the surprises that life throws at you.

Well, my take on this, is that if you’re feeling somewhat uncertain about where your life is headed, then there’s no harm in doing some planning! Think about some goals that you might have, and start forming a simple road map that you can envision and work towards.

This map should lead to your ultimate destination – your goal or purpose that you initially set out.

That’s because, life is a journey, so if you don’t know the final destination, you’ll always have a sense of uncertainty or feeling lost. This is where demotivation comes in. Nothing you do will ever truly motivate you.

But if you know where you’re headed, then you can intentionally ‘drive’ towards it. You won’t lose motivation because you actually know what you’re working for.

Now just imagine a car with a full tank of gas.

If you don’t know where you’re driving to, you’ll soon run out of gas. But if you have a destination in mind, you can plan to make gas stops or plan routes that ensure you’ll have enough gas to last you till you reach that destination.

So the same goes for your motivation in life!

If you want to feel motivated about your life direction, then you need to build a system that allows you to always have a constant flow of motivation – a sort of Motivation Engine.

And at the core of this engine, is knowing your purpose.

Going back to what I mentioned earlier, about having a goal that you can work towards. Having a meaningful purpose is what’s going to keep you driven and not feeling lost, bored or uncertain.

So the actual question is, are you keen to find your purpose? Drop your comments in the comment section below and don’t forget to hit the share button.
